Randolph Hall, Jr. Obituary

Randolph "Rand" Hall, Jr., 89, of Virginia Beach, formerly of Fairfax County and Danville, VA, entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

Born in Danville, Virginia, he was the son of the late Randolph Hall and Ethel "Peggy" Hall and brother to the late Nancy Gibbs of Danville, Virginia.

Rand graduated from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, with a BA in Accounting and Marketing. While there, he was the President of Omicron Delta Kappa, President of his Junior Class, a contributor to the Flat Hat college newspaper, and an Aide to the College President.

After graduating from The College of William and Mary, he enlisted in the Navy on May 7, 1957. As a young Lieutenant, he was assigned to a naval station in Chicago, Illinois, and then reassigned to Thailand, where he spent close to four years as an independent UDN Training Officer to the Royal Thai Navy. While in that role, he reported to the Military Advisory Group Navy Section Chief in Bangkok. Following his honorable discharge on June 21, 1976, he continued to serve in the Reserves.

Rand's professional journey was a testament to his dedication and passion for consulting, system design, and programming. He began his career at IBM, where he used his accounting and computer science skills to coordinate customer installations across eight states and over forty customer data processing locations as a National Account Manager. Later, he became an Information Systems consultant/auditor for a CPA firm and assisted in auditing and tax preparation for the firm and its clients.  This work led to an executive vice president position at a credit card service company and eventual entrepreneurship, opening his own business, RANDCO Computer Systems, Inc., servicing the Washington Metropolitan area.  Even after retirement, his love for his work led him to join an office supply company, where he continued contributing his computer and business expertise.

Rand's love of the Lord was a cornerstone of his life. While living in Danville, VA, he was a dedicated Moseley Memorial United Methodist Church member. In Northern Virginia, his church home was St. Stephens United Methodist Church in Burke, Virginia. There, he served as church treasurer and held numerous committee positions. After moving to Virginia Beach, Rand found his final church home, Thalia United Methodist Church.

Rand is survived by his wife, Linda; his daughter, Jennifer (Pat); two grandsons; his aunt, Mary Lou; cherished cousins Carol, John (Gayle), Johnny, Joy, Miriam, Benjamin, Sarah (Robert), Vann, Ken (Velta), Kay (Gary); and extended family, Byrnes, Browns, Fitzhughs, and Ellis.

In honor of Rand's deep faith, the family kindly invites those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to Thalia United Methodist Church in Randolph Hall's name.
