Raymond Carney "Rainbo"

God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my ‘Rainbo’ in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and earth.” (Genesis 9: 12-16). Family know that he is always with us. All you have to do is look for the “Rainbo” in the sky.   

Raymond Carney, 59, affectionately known as "Rainbo" transitioned from this life on April 12, 2022. He was born on August 28, 1962 in Norfolk, VA to Willie and Mary Carney. 

Although Rainbo was born in Norfolk, he was raised in the Seatack area of Virginia Beach, VA. He was educated in the Virginia Beach public schools system and attended First Colonial High School. Rainbo worked for the City of Virginia Beach as a landscaper and retired after 35+ years of service. He also was the best baby sitter anyone could have asked for. 

Rainbo was a member of Ladies Choice back in the day. He enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and he loved all types of sports. To this day, Rainbo still holds the record for running the fastest mile at Lynnhaven Middle School. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys football team play.

Rainbo was always on time whenever anyone needed him and was always the life of the party. From his sense of style, to his raspy voice, Rainbo definitely had a presence about him. He had a smile that would light up a room; however, the occasional head nod and “peace” sign was his signature gesture. With his laid back nature and kindness in his heart his children, family, and friends always felt his love and protection.  

Rainbo leaves to cherish his memories, fiancé, Delois Lawrence; 9 children, Timothy Lane, Rahshi Webb (Shawnte), Rahshawn Webb, Raymond Lane (Bernadette), Tremaine Lane, Angelo Lane, Tanaiaya Carney, Teisjah Carney, Keviyon Carney; grandchildren, Xaveion Lane, Rashad Webb, Mariah Webb, Na’Shawn Webb, Tyshawn Webb, Jeremiah Webb, Raymond Lane Jr., Brycen Lane, Kamille Reaves, Brelen Lane; parents, Willie Carney Jr., Mary Carney; siblings, Dennis Carney, David Carney, Alice Carney, Tonya Carney; and a host of other family and friends.
