Raymond L. Valentine, Jr. known by many names "Junnie, Kool Poppa, Pop-Pop, Uncle Bubba, Cheese, Unc, Daddio and The Dancing Usher" of Queen City, transitioned on a peaceful day in Virginia Beach. Born December 3, 1939, Raymond always loved being around family and friends until his final breath departed him on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Raymond was the son of the late Raymond L. Valentine Sr. and late Ella Mae Valentine. He was also preceded in death by older and only brother Russell Grant Valentine, Sr. (Orie-wife) of Virginia Beach. Raymond attended Crestwood High School. He was a long-time employee of Sentara Bayside Hospital and he retired twice from Virginia Polytechnic Institute as a Technician. Raymond was indeed a sports fan; his favorite teams were the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Bulls and the Virginia Tech - Hokies.
Raymond had a great love for his family and friends. He loved working in his yard and sitting in his garage listening to music and watching westerns. Raymond was the neighborhood barber and handyman for Burton Station. He just loved working with his hands, if it could be fixed/ repaired he was determined to get it done. Before his medical challenges, Raymond would also take the occasional trips with family and friends to Dover where he would visit the one-armed bandit. He will be remembered for being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Raymond will forever abide in the hearts of his surviving family members and friends. He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Valentine, three sons Randy A. Elliott, Tyrone B. Valentine (Robin-wife) and Raymond L. Valentine, III (Priscilla-wife), one daughter Valerie D. Brown (Le Roy-husband), along with many grandchildren, a multitude of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Also survived by four sisters, Virginia Fulford, Barbara Chapel, Deborah Morgan and Jacqueline Miller. Raymond will truly be missed by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
