Reginald “Reggie” Antonio Mason

Reginald Antonio Mason, 57, affectionately known as “Reggie,” transitioned from this life on February 10, 2025. He was born on June 25, 1967, to the late Daniel H. and Sally A. Mason and was raised in the Seatack community of Virginia Beach. Reggie attended Virginia Beach public schools and graduated from First Colonial High School in 1986, where he was a phenomenal point guard for the First Colonial Patriots basketball team. He went on to further his education at St. Augustine University, majoring in art. He was a talented and gifted artist. Reggie was employed at Frank W. Cox High School for six years as a teacher’s assistant and assistant coach for the Falcons football team.

Reggie and Maria Worlds were married on March 24, 2017. Reggie enjoyed preparing meals and cooking for his wife, sister, and family. He was very adamant regarding “his part of the kitchen.” His space was off-limits to anyone. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bulls fan, Reggie loved watching football games and movies. Because of his humorous, laid-back nature, he always had a joke to tell while laughing and smiling all the while. Truly he was a jokester. Reggie’s unwavering commitment to caring for others reflected a heart full of empathy and love. He was instrumental in the care of his sister Lynn. He cared about his friends as well as his family, and he never met a stranger. During the summertime, Reggie loved to grill in the backyard of his childhood home. Reggie loved being a “Pop Pop” to his granddaughters, and he was eager to welcome his new granddaughter Aubrey in June.

Reggie leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Maria Worlds, Mason; son, Ryan A. Mason; daughter, Maya C. Mason; two step-sons, Aynsley (deceased) and Angelo Worlds; stepdaughter, Ashly Roberson; granddaughters, Iylah & Kemiyah Hodges; step granddaughter, Zaniya Worlds; sister, Lynn Mason; brothers, James Bordeaux (Libby), Dannie Mason (Laverne); one aunt, Willie Mae Mitchell; one uncle, Simuel “Pops” Johns; godmother, Evelyn Murphy; Rodney Jones, best friend; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
