Reverend Cathy “Cookie” Fielding was born February 10, 1959, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Johnnie Anderson, Jr., and Allean Foggie. During her childhood, Reverend Fielding moved to Spartanburg County (Woodruff, S.C.) with her mother and older sister, Carrie Vanessa Anderson where she attended Southside Elementary School, Evan Jr. High School, New Bethel High School, and Spartanburg High School. Early childhood spiritual training included attending the family church, Landford Holiness Church, with her grandparents, where her great grandmother was pastor. Cathy was baptized at age 12 by her then Pastor Leon Rector, subsequently becoming a member of Harrison Grove Baptist Church.
Cathy Fielding met her husband, the late James Fielding in June of 1975. Out of that union were born five children--four daughters (Recita, Thea, Jammie, and Elleana) and one son (James Jr.). She presently has twelve grandchildren.
Reverend Cathy Fielding received the revelation of Jesus Christ in June 1983 and later joined Mason Memorial Church of God in Christ (COGIC), under the leadership of Elder David Williams. There she served as a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. In 1984, God called Cathy to preach. After praying for a church home, the Lord led her to Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she exercised her gifts as a Vacation Bible School teacher, choir member, and minister to low-income women and children. Reverend Fielding was licensed to preach March 5, 1989, under the leadership of her pastor, Dr. Jerome C. Ross.
Cathy’s preparation for her call to ministry include Evans Smith Institute, graduated May 20, 1989, with a Religious Studies Certificate; Saint Leo University, graduated in June 1991 with an Associates of Arts Degree, and in June 2008 graduated with a Bachelor of Psychology and Religion; Virginia Union University, Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, graduated in May 2015 with a Master of Divinity.
Reverend Fielding is the former pastor and outreach minister of Martin Luther King Jr., United Methodist Church, former associate minister at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church, Sharon Baptist Church, and Gethsemane Baptist Church. Some additional areas of ministry she has served includes youth ministry, hospital chaplaincy, prison ministry,
pastoral counseling, Christian radio management and broadcasting, public speaking and teaching the Word. Most recently, Reverend Fielding pastored Drummondtown and Metropolitan United Methodist Churches, located on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Fielding has claimed the promises of God and was a faithful servant of the Lord. While she has had many achievements, she believed her greatest accomplishment was giving birth to her five diamonds.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her children; Recita Fielding-Cuffee and Lamont Cuffee of Virginia Beach, VA, Thea Fielding-Lowe and Paul Lowe of Woonsocket, RI, Jammie Fielding of Virginia Beach, VA, Elleana Fielding-Hogge and Christopher Hogge of Clayton, NC, and James Fielding, Jr., and Gingerlie Fielding of El Paso, TX; Grandchildren: Ysa Fielding-Anzola, Laila Baker, Jazmyne Ward, Kaliana Fielding-Cuffee, Mariyah Francis, James Fielding, Destiny Fielding, Charisma Hogge, Steven Hogge, Jordyn Fielding, Tania Goodson, and Lamont Goodson; Mother: Allean Foggie; siblings: Carrie Vanessa Anderson, Penny Cleveland, Kathy Nichols, John and Prince Cleveland.
