Reynold Roy Brockett, known as “Rey” was born to Valentine Alleyne and Delroy Brockett on August 3rd 1976, in Brooklyn, New York. He was the first of six children—one sister and four brothers. He had a humble upbringing, attending elementary school (P.S. 241) in Brooklyn and doing the typical chores, like all children in the community.
Upon graduating from Transit Tech High School in 1994, Reynold attended Kingsborough Community College to pursue an Associates degree in Broadcasting management which he accomplished in 1996.
Reynold accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Ignatius Church, serving as altar server, and enjoyed participating in the youth group. He loved being a part of the youth group because of the various activities-game night, music night, movie night etc.
He joined the U.S. Navy in December 1996 and had planned to make a career in the Navy; unfortunately, he was medically discharged. After being discharged from the Navy he then married Khaliah Brockett in March 1999.
He leaves behind a large and loving family: his wife, Khalilah; stepdaughter Shakylahh, 3 step grandkids; mother Valentine Alleyne; four brothers, Jawawa Brockett; Jamali Brockett; Edward Alleyne; Delory Brockett Jr. and one sister, Juanita Alleyne; godparents; Donald and Diane Thompson; there also remain a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members, co-workers, and very close friends.
We lost a humble man and a wonderful human being. Although Reynold departed this present life on January 6th 2022, he will always be alive in our hearts.
