On April 16, 1941 Alonzo Sr. and Evelyn Bagley were blessed with the birth of a son, Ronald Curtis Bagley. Ronald’s birth along with his brother, Alonzo Bagley Jr. made their family complete. The family resided in Brooklyn, NY and throughout their lives also made New Jersey and North Carolina home.
Ronald Bagley, a devoted and compassionate Registered Nurse and proud Army Veteran passed away peacefully in his home on February 5, 2025 in Virginia Beach, VA. Ronald dedicated his life to serving others, both in uniform and in the healthcare field. Over a 60+ year career as a trauma and critical care nurse his kindness and strength touched countless lives. Ronald’s unwavering commitment to caring for others reflected a heart full of courage, empathy and love.
Ronald’s lifelong companion and husband, Carl Caronia, began with a chance meeting and the simple question of “what are you doing for the rest of your life?” That question lead to 48 years of love, adventure and 14 years of marriage. Their inseparable lives were filled with worldwide travel, intrinsic art, the wonders of nature and devotion to their many beloved fur babies….cats, dogs and birds.
Ronald and Carl’s dedication to each other was matched by their care and concern of family. Their knowledge, strength, support and guidance has been the pillar for family, friends and those held close to their hearts. Never was told what you wanted to hear, but rather what you needed to know to encourage growth, positivity and focus.
Ronald leaves a legacy of love, strength, courage and fortitude in the lives of his husband, Carl Caronia, nieces and nephews Annette Bagley, Evelyn Bagley, Charlotte & Christopher Bennett, Drs. Ron & Cathy Caronia, Louie & Darlene Caronia, Terese & Curt Capizzi, Lori & Micheal Persico, Lawrence & Linda Caronia, and many other much loved family members and friends.
We thank you Ronald for your unwavering love, vast knowledge, decisive and relentless guidance that has enriched every life you’ve touched. We love and honor you and will carry you in our hearts forever. May you rest in eternal peace and the loving arms of God.
