Rosa Lee Frederick

Rosa L. Frederick, 77, entered into eternal rest on July 30, 2019.  She was born in Williamsburg, South Carolina on September 23, 1941 to the late Stanley and Fowler Dorsey.

Rosa graduated from Battery Creek High School in Beaufort, South Carolina. She worked as an Escort Aid for Visiting Nurse Services for 15 years. She was a member of Mt. Ararat AME church in South Carolina from childhood to her teenage years. Rosa loved cooking, sewing, gardening, decorating and was a great hairdresser.

In 1964, Rosa moved to Brooklyn, New York with her husband and started a family. They later transferred to Bronx, New York to Throggs Neck P.J. in 1971. Rosa was committed to her family and gave compassion to everyone she met. She loved to dance and enjoyed life. She also loved preparing meals for the community.

Besides her parents, Rosa was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Oscar Marion Frederick, who passed away on January 16, 2019. She also will be joining her siblings, Ella Buskin Johnson, Maggie Young, Minnie Buffkin, who was an author and Arthur William “Bubba”.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Darryl Oscar Frederick (Cheryl); Kimberly Yvette Griffin (Warren); Michael Antwane Frederick; grandsons, Christopher, Joseph, Darryl Jr., Michael Jr., Kobe J; two great grandchildren, Caysee Monroe, Joseph Jr.; sister, Willia Mae Davis; cousins, Harold Dorsey (Carrie), Leroy Dorsey, Vernerva Palma, Jenny Green, Mert Brock, Lucy Young, Cleveland Chandler “Sonny” and a host of nieces,  nephews and other loving family members and friends.
