Rosie Mae Snowden aged 84, earned her eternal resting place on Sunday, July 7, 2024.
Rosie Mae was born on June 7, 1940, in Virginia Beach, VA to the late Levin and Hannah Snowden. She grew up as the youngest of 13 children in Princess Anne County, VA. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her generous spirit and loving nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
Rosie Mae received her formal education from Virginia Beach public school system with some college courses. Her hard work and unwavering determination ensured that her loved ones never went without, and her sacrifices were a source of inspiration to all who knew her.
Rosie Mae had a passion for life's simple joys. When she wasn’t babysitting and nurturing her great-grandchildren. She spent countless hours rocking in her chair immersed in crossword puzzles and catching up on the news. She loved the holidays and spending time with her family. Her creativity during the holidays was revered with her love of decorating and cooking. Each celebration brought a new display of her festive spirit that brought joy to her family and neighbors alike.
Gardening was another of Rosie's great loves. She always loved going to her daughter’s house and working in the garden for many peaceful hours. Poinsettias were a yearly favorite, and she would be so excited to receive them every year.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings. Left to cherish Rosie’s memory, her loving sister, Gladys Johnson (Virginia Beach); two daughters, Lynn Snowden-Allen, Angela Snowden; grandchildren, Jonell Snowden, Shari Lyons, Sade Snowden; great-grandchildren, Travon, Taliyah, Zaniyah, Eli, Christian; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her family will forever cherish the memories of her selfless heart, her laughter, and the love she freely gave. Rosie’s legacy will continue to blossom in the hearts of those who knew her.
