ROY LEE BANKS ("Yeah Mon")
A devoted son, father, grandfather, brother and more. Roy was born January 12, 1960. To the late Alice and Earnest Whitaker.
Roy's education unfolded in North Carolina and later finished in Virginia
Beach, Va at First Colonial High School.
Roy's Career started at Va Beach School Board,
Shoney's Big Boy, Camelot Nursing Home, Sentara Beach General.
Then he was well known at Mary's Country Kitchen where he was head chef and a Very GOOD ONE He mas once on the news for cooking.
Roy loved dancing and he loved music, his favorite song was "what's goin on by Marvin Gaye. Roy once adventured to SoulTrain where he won
second place with his partner Cheryl Speller! Roy also loved shooting
pool and playing basketball, and watching football as his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. On Saturday, May 10, 2025 around 3:00am Surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home in Va Beach Roy went to his eternal rest. In addition Roy proceeded in death by his parents, Alice and Earnest Whitaker and 3 of his siblings Barbara, Frances, and Bernard. Roy leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Vanessa Banks, three daughters Charo of Va Beach, Geana with her husband Jason of Lancaster VA, and Catrina of Va Beach, and one son Roy Lee Jr of Va Beach; nine grand children and 5 great grand children; his siblings Phyllis, Mattie, Devinee, and SyIvia with her husband Lawrence; Lil brother "Whitt Moss", halfbreed "Donna Ransom"; Aunt, Viola Bratcher, uncles, Vincent, Rev Clinton, Pastor Cleveland, Dea. Willie and Dea. Alonzo; and a host of caring "D" nieces, "D' nephews, cousins and friends
