Russell Grant Valentine, Sr., 86, was born in Princess Anne County, VA to the late Raymond and Ella Mae Valentine on January 26, 1937. Russell entered into eternal rest and went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2023.
Russell was educated in the Chesapeake public school system and graduated from Crestwood High. He had a long career and retired as a Longshoreman at the International Longshoreman Association (ILA) Local 1248, Norfolk, VA.
Russell was a member of the Greater St. Andrews AME Church where he sang in the male chorus. He loved farming and in his spare time you could find him in the neighborhood tending to watermelons, collards, sweet potatoes and many more. Russell loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and was a member of Sports Brothers Motorcycle S&S Club.
Russell loved watching old westerns, which he called, “Cowboys” on television. Before all of his hobbies and passions, Russell loved his wife and family. He married Orie L. Valentine and they were married for over 60 years.
Besides his parents, Russell was predeceased by one son, Russell Grant Valentine, Jr.
Russell leaves to cherish his fond memories, the love of his life, his wife, Orie L. Valentine; children, Vaughan Bryant, Janet Howard (James), Pat Norman (Monty), Deborah Ferebee, Nevanna Garvin; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings, Raymond Valentine Jr., Virginia Fulford, Barbara Chapel, Deborah Morgan, Jacqueline Miller; special niece, Valzhane Lewis; special nephew, Marquel Thomas; one brother-in-law; two sister-in-laws; and a host of other relatives and friends.
