“WE ARE CONFIDENT, I SAY, AND WILLING RATHER TO BE ABSENT FROM THE BODY, AND TO BE PRESENT WITH THE LORD.”
(II Corinthians 5:8)
Our most dear, Mrs. Shirley Mae (Cason) Ramsey of Virginia Beach, VA, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, August 21st, 2025, while under the professional medical care of Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital and Virginia Beach Healthcare Center. She was born July 20th, 1943 in Princess Anne County (VA Beach, VA) to the late Mary Elizabeth and John Henry Cason, Sr. God blessed Shirley to be united in marriage to the love of her life, the late Joseph Ramsey. This union was granted the blessings of two sons, Joseph Alexander Cason and Jimmy Leon Ramsey. Our beloved will be forever recognized thus remembered for her dedicated roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and the friendliest “auntie” ever hoped for.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Henry, husband Joseph, two sisters, Caretha E. Davis and Lena M. Parker.
To cherish her memories, she is survived by her two sons, Joseph Cason (Tina) and Jimmy Ramsey, two sisters, Rosetta Lamb and Brenda Barlow (Clemon), one brother, John H. Cason, Jr, one great aunt, Margaret Coleman, eight grandchildren, Jermaine White, Jomel Cason, LaShawnda Cason, Kayla Cason, Breonna Cason, Joseph Cason, Jr, Gary Butler and Robert Butler, Sr, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two special nieces, Kim and Lena(“Berta”), one godchild, Rev. Patrice Vaughn. We so lovingly recognize Shirley’s host of remaining family and friends.
‘SO WE MAKE IT OUR CLAIM, WHETHER PRESENT OR ABSENT, TO BE WELL PLEASING TO HIM.” (II Corinthians 5:9)
