Sylvia Hinton

Mrs. Hinton 82, passed away Sept. 4, 2023. She was born in Jackson, NC to the late Alvin and Clarine Reid on March 12, 1941. Sylvia obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Elizabeth City State University. This led to her being an educator for over 20 years in the Norfolk Public School system. She loved the Lord and was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. in Jackson, NC and later on in life Piney Grove Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Sylvia loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with family.

She leaves to cherish her memory nine children, Martin Hinton, Renee Hinton, Thomas Hinton, Tione Hinton, Cindy Cheston, Wendy Starr, Dawn Hinton, Omar Hinton, Lance Hinton; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; son in laws, Leonard Starr, Emanuel Cheston and daughter in law, Ashley Hinton.
