Tracey V. Wilkins

Tracey Vanise Wilkins, 60, transitioned from her earthly assignment gaining her angel wings on May 13, 2023. Tracey was born September 21, 1962, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Alice M. (Lassiter) Wilkins and William F. Wilkins.

 As a child, Tracey attended Providence public schools, it was there she met Brian Prout with whom she shares four daughters, Tamara Wilkins and Ashley Wilkins of Virginia Beach, VA, Candace Wilkins of Norfolk, VA and Sheena Wilkins of Yorktown, VA. Her “CATS”, as affectionately she called them, will tremendously love, honor and miss the woman that gave them life, love and lessons that they will surely cherish. Being one of many children Tracey grew up in a home filled with love and laughter. She leaves behind 8 siblings Gwendolyn Lassiter, Wanda Lassiter, William Lassiter, Roger Wilkins, Tyrone Wilkins and Burnitta Wilkins all of Virginia, Alton Lassiter and Suzanne Scott of Rhode Island.

 Relocating to Virginia in 2000 Tracey became a Certified Nursing Assistant then attended Centura College where she received her associate degree in Medical Assisting, all while being a mother, grandmother and full time department manager with Farm Fresh Market for several years. Tracey’s passion has always been helping people and working in the medical field which she did until early retirement. More than anything Tracey absolutely adored being a grandmother and saw her six grandchildren and great grandson as treasures and gifts from God himself. Detrionna, Taylor, Jayven, MaKenzie, Hudson, Zola and Rielly will grieve the loss of her presence, protection and warmth. Their beloved mam’ma is irreplaceable in their lives.

 Tracey also leaves to cherish her memory her beautiful Aunt Marthann Davis as well as a tribe of women who were special to her in many ways, her sister/niece Alicia Reado, cousin Rita Artis, and lifelong sister-friends Chonda Jones, Brenda Cooper, Kelly Lowell and Vanessa Benton. Over the past two decades Tracey has created a devoted friendship and companionship with Herbert Jones who will miss her immensely along with countless nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
