Life Reflections
God called one of his angels, Valda “Val” N. Johnson home on Friday, August 2, 2024. She departed from this earth to her resting place that some would say is the paradise of God. The Lord blessed the world with “Val” on March 11, 1965, in Norfolk, Virginia at Norfolk General Hospital to William Johnson (Linda) and Betty Moore (Walter). Although Val was born in Norfolk she was raised in Virginia Beach and was a graduate of First Colonial High School class of 1983.
Val was raised in the church and loved the Lord. She was a former member of Faith House of Refuge Ministries under the guidance of her cousin Bishop Richard Shaw and was a current member of Transformation Church under the leadership of Pastor Jeffery West.
Val was a beloved daughter, mother, and memaw. Valda loved to have fun, smile, laugh, joke and dance. She also loved to travel. Val enjoyed traveling to tropical destinations. Cancun, Jamaica, and the Bahamas were some of her favorites because of their beautiful beaches and vibrant vibes. She was the life of the party!
Val was predeceased by one sister, Ayesha Johnson.
Val leaves to continue her life and legacy her devoted son, Ronta’ Johnson; a loving daughter, Jasonta’ Bynum; grandchildren, Jada, Ronta’, Ta’shyra, Ronasja, and Londyn Johnson; three brothers, Keith & Eric Johnson and George Smilke; four sisters, Yvette Johnson, Lisa Devore, Sheila Smilke and Angel Lowe; godson, Devon Dwyer; a special friend, Timothy Saints; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends
