Velma M. Charity

On October 20, 2024, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, Velma M. Charity peacefully transitioned from this life to her glorious home in heaven. She was born on February 5, 1956 in Southampton County, Virginia to the late Purcell and Olinda Warren Charity.

Velma was educated in the Southampton County Public School system. Soon after high school she started working in the healthcare industry. She worked as a Med Tech/CNA for 30 years at James Square facility in Syracuse, NY., Ghent Arms in Norfolk, VA. and Kings Grant in Virginia Beach, VA. Furthermore, she was married for 30 years to Jesse Lankford.

Velma was predeceased by her parents, Purcell Charity, Sr. and Olinda Warren Charity.

Velma leaves to cherish her fond memories her children, Alfrazier Ali Charity (Dawn) of Petersburg, VA, Katrina Lankford of Chesapeake, VA, Shirelle Lankford of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren, Jessica Moore, Trinard Lankford, Eboni Charity, Trivon Lankford, Tadrian Lankford, Kamonte Lankford,  Trinmontae Lankford, Damontre Lankford, Torrick Hayes, Jr., Ramatoulaye Diallo, eleven great grandchildren, siblings, Purcell Charity, Jr. (Sandra) of Charlotte, NC, Arbodella Charity Cornelius (Bobby) of Chesapeake, VA, Elaine Malinda Charity, Norfolk, VA; nieces; nephews; a special friend, Sharon Mosher; and a host of other relatives and friends.
