On Saturday, July 03, 2021, Vera "Lucille" Harper completed her earthly journey at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital. GOD decided to call his faithful servant home.
Vera "Lucille" Harper began her journey on June 02, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Mary Anna Dancy Harris. She was a native of Scotland Neck, N.C. She completed her education in the North Carolina Public School System.
LUCILLE relocated to New York City soon after high school. It is where she met the love of her life, Roosevelt. They were united in Holy Matrimony on September 21, 1963. From this union was born their son Erik.
LUCILLE was employed with the New York City Division of Support Enforcement. She retired in 1996.
While living in New York, she was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. After relocating to Virginia Beach, she became a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, and she did not let the fact that she could not drive stop her from attending church every Sunday.
LUCILLE loved her family. She was an extremely kind and generous person. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
LUCILLE will be sorely missed. Cherishing her fondest memories, are her son, Erik Harper (Shenae'); Grandson, Mekhi Harper; Sister, Margaret Griffin of Huntington, NY; Aunt, Frances Woodhouse (Robert) of Virginia Beach; Sister-in-law, Susie Wooten of Dover, DE; Sister-in-law Anna Harper of Far Rockaway, NY; Godson, Evan Carpenter of Valley Stream, NY (Onieka); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Special people, such as LUCILLE, touch our lives in everything they do and leave us changed long after they are gone. The gifts they give us can become a part of who we are.
