On Thursday, February 15, 2024, our beloved Willia Mae Davis gracefully ascended to her eternal resting place. Mae was loved by many and will forever be in our hearts.
Willia Mae Davis was born in Welch, West Virginia on June 24,1950 to Willie and Ophelia Cochran Sr. She was the eldest child of her siblings, Louise, Willie Jr., Inez, and Phillip. When Mae was a child, her family relocated to Norfolk, VA. She was a graduate from Norfolk Public Schools and furthered her education, graduating from Central School of Practical Nursing. Mae also attended Lone Star College and Excelsior University.
Mae had strong spiritual roots and was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in Feb 1978 and again in April 2022 . In 1977, she grew closer to God when she became a devoted member of Tabernacle Prayer For All People, under the direction of Pastor M.M. Terry. After relocating to Texas, Mae re-devoted her life to Christ and became a member of New Direction Community Church under the direction of Pastor Cedric Francis.
Willia Mae Davis had a gift for taking care of others. Her nursing career started when she became a CNA at Lynn Shore Manor. She worked countless hours caring for others. Mae decided to go back to school to become an LPN. After successfully completing the program, Mae continued to work for Lynn Shore Manor and then began working for River Point Rehab located in Virginia Beach, VA. Prior to retirement, her final place of employment was Kindred Hospital, formerly known as Triumph where she dedicated 11 years of service. Throughout her nursing career, Mae received several service awards and recognition of excellence.
Willia Mae was predeceased by her mother, Ophelia; father, Willie Cochran Sr.; brother, Willie Cochran Jr.; sister, Mary Louise Cochran; son, Larry Drummond; and her fur babies, Shotzi and Vegas.
She is survived by her devoted spouse, Frederick Davis; fur babies, Elwood and Ella; son, Bernard Drummond (Terry); daughter, Bernadette Drummond; son, Alfred Drummond; son, Albert Drummond; daughter, Tahmara Young (Ronald); son, Jesse Hodo Jr. (Desere); sister, Inez Fuller; brother, Phillip Cochran (Thia); 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
