A Chapter completed, pages turned, a life well lived and eternal rest well-earned Brother William “Buster Pete” Cornick made his transition to be with God on Feb 28, 2025. He was a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born in Princess Anne County on August 25, 1943 to the late Sidney and Viola Cornick. Buster Pete attended Princess Anne County Public Schools and worked with Big Ollies Construction. Buster Pete was predeceased in death by two brothers Clarence and James Cornick and one sister Lillie Leverette and three sister-in-law Bertha Lee, Mary, Kathaleen (Ray), Elaine (James).
Cherishing Pete’s fondest memories is his loving and devoted wife, Maxine Cornick; two sons, Samuel and Vernon (Monica) Battle; two stepchildren, Yvonne and Robert Owens; two granddaughters, Shakita and Lavisha Davis; one grandson, Charles Walls; three great grandsons, Shaheed, Sterling and Da’Mon; one great granddaughter, Ta’Shyra Johnson; three brothers Sidney, Rooselvett, Alvin(Paula) Cornick and one sister Ruby Cornick; special friends Dave, Ernest, P Worm and Tuts and a host of cousins, friends and family.
Although Buster Pete will be deeply missed his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Buster Pete from 16th street loved to rhyme and joke, his voice could be heard from afar. He lived a life filled with kindness, laughter and unwavering love for family and friends. He was a member of the Virginia Beach Riders Motorcycle Club. Pete loved fishing and honking the horn while yelling out the window. He loved to cook. He was a champion for his church, family and community.
Life is but a stopping place. Just close your eyes and open your heart and feel your worries depart, yield yourself to the father above and let him hold you secure in his love
For he hears every prayer and every answer each one. When we pray his name “Thy will be done” and the burdens that seemed too heavy to beat are lifted away on the wings of prayer.
