Mr. William Edward Grimstead Jr., 73, was born on August 4, 1947 in Princess Anne County, VA to the late William Sr. and Mildred Grimstead. William departed his life on Saturday, February 6, 2021.
William graduated from Union Kempsville High School in June of 1966. He attended Job Corp and later Tidewater Community College. After graduating, William went on to serve in the United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War and was injured by gun shot. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. William was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Pioneer Lodge and Ebenezer Baptist Church, Va. Beach, VA.
William was a family-oriented man who loved his family. When his father passed away, he stepped in and helped his mother take care of the rest of his siblings. He also took care of her when she became ill. William was a generous person who was a solid rock filled with strength. He loved to teach people the basics in life. As William grew older, his love for the Lord grew. He had a great personality, was easy going, always smiling and was very joyful. William was a lady’s man and the ladies loved him. William enjoyed watching movies like, Back to the Future and Star Trek. He loved basketball, golf, and the Green Bay Packers football team.
William was predeceased by his parents, William Edward Grimstead Sr., Mildred Victoria Grimstead; uncles, Isaiah and Alonzo Etheridge Jr.; aunts, Mary Joyner, Inez Moody, and Golethia Woodhouse.
William leaves to cherish his fond memories, his children, Dione Massey (Terry), Sabrina Grimstead, Natasha Grimstead; grandchildren, Demetrius Grimstead, Jermaine Grimstead, Terance Grimstead, Tiara Harrell (Derrell), Paris Creadle (Steven), Amaya Banks; great grandchildren, Za’mari, Za’khi, Zaidyn, Jayceon, Kemiyah, Za’khla, Daijah, Ava; siblings, Ervin Grimstead (Genita), Wardell Grimsted (Phyllis), Valentino Grimstead (Francene), Sharon Grimstead; aunts & uncles, Iceilia Etheridge, Weldon Etheridge, Elizabeth Ziegler (Robert) and a host of other relatives and friends.
