We celebrate the homegoing of William J. Jones, Jr., who was called from labor to reward on Friday, December 31, 2021.
William J. Jones, Jr was the youngest and last surviving child of four born to the late William and Lennie Jones on November 26, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York.
William served in the United States Army and the Army Reserves from 1955 to 1963. He worked as an electrician for the United States Postal Service for 36 years, retiring in 1994. William was a standing member of the Elks Lodge #32 in Brooklyn, NY. Upon moving to Virginia Beach, Virginia, he married Carolyn Halyard and became a devoted member of Campbell’s Chapel AME Church.
Besides his parents, William was predeceased by one daughter, Sherrie and three sisters, Gerry, Lillian, and Helen.
William leaves to cherish his fond memories, his wife Carolyn H. Jones; six daughters, Linda, Lorri, Lisa, Sharisse, Tamika, Louanne; two sons, Derrick, Nathaniel, son-in-law and Partner in Crime”, Eddie; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
