William Earl Roberson

William Earl Roberson departed this life on Sunday, January 4, 2026. William, affectionately known as “Tea Baby” or “Tea,” was born to the late Peggy Louise Roberson and Roy Lee Hooker in the Oak City community of Martin County, North Carolina. In 1972, he moved to Virginia and began his career with the Department of Public Utilities in the City of Virginia Beach. William was admired for his dedication, positive attitude, and strong leadership, qualities he displayed consistently throughout his 47 years of service to the citizens of Virginia Beach.

William met Mary in 1987, and they were united in marriage in October of 1993. Together, they created a blended family of nine children and built a beautiful life over their 32‑year union, which lasted until his untimely passing. Anyone who spent time with him knew that his wife, children, grandchildren, and the Washington Redskins (Commanders) were the center of his world. He devoted much of his spare time to supporting his daughters, taking day trips with his son, and attending any sport or activity his children and grandchildren were involved in.

William joined Grace River Church in the fall of 2007, where he remained a faithful member until he was no longer able to attend regularly. He enjoyed serving as an usher and after retirement, joined the church staff as Maintenance Director.

William was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Hooker; his mother, Peggie Louise Roberson-Martin; three brothers, William Henry Roberson, Terry Perkins, and Derrick Perkins; and one son, David Liverman. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mary Roberson, of the home; his sons, Derrick William Whitehurst, Antonio (Pam) Liverman, and Kenneth Bradley; his daughters, Trena Holley, Luciana (David) Yancy, Tina (Curtis) Blunt, Lateshie Elliott fiancé Charles Wade, and Robin (Joharn) Eldridge; and one beloved bonus son, Cory Elliott. He is also survived by two brothers, Antonio (Michelle) Perkins and Tom (Melissa) Perkins; three sisters, Ilene Roberson, Carol Duckett, and Latanya (Aaron) Crudup; one aunt, Anne Wiggins; 26 grandchildren; 16 great‑grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
