Willie Ray Griffin, Sr., age 85, peacefully departed this life on January 19, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 22, 1940, in Princess Anne County, Virginia to the late John & Willie Bell Griffin.
Willie was educated in the Virginia Beach Public School System and went on to dedicate 20 years of faithful service to the City of Virginia Beach, He also dedicated 20 years where he worked at the Fairmont Building. His strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his career and earned him the respect of those who worked alongside him.
A man of deep faith, Willie served as a Deacon at Pleasant Bridge Church of Disciples, where he was a devoted member and servant of the church. Willie had a great love for sports, especially baseball, and he was a passionate fan of the San Francisco 49ers.
Willie was predeceased by his parents John Henry Griffin and Willie Bell Griffin; brothers, John Henry Griffin, Jr. and Earnest Lee Griffin.
Willie leaves to continue his legacy his wife, Eva L. Griffin; children, Nancy Johnson, Angela Griffin, Willie Griffin Jr (Anna), Linda Goffigan (Myron), April Hazzard, Edward Griffin (Nikkisha); 19 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sibling Carrie Brown and 2 sister in Laws Hopesylvannia Moore and Shirley Short and a host of relatives and friends.
